Computers and other digital electronic devices are used to transmit and store personal data, business documents, contracts and other sensitive information. Electronic intrusion in which computer files are stolen or altered by people other than their owners appears to be on the increase.
Does the worry that some sensitive information may be lost or stolen justify increased monitoring of digital communication media by government security agencies?
Comment on whether you think there is an increased security threat to the digital files of individuals, groups of people, countries or businesses.
Describe what you think an appropriate response, if any, would be to this threat.
Your essay should have a title and it should be largely self contained; that is, please explain the context and any assumptions needed to understand the points you are making. Provide bibliographic information (references) as needed.
The purpose of the essay is to discuss some of the societal changes taking place in response to changing computer use and changing computer technology.
