Assignment Cover Page Printer

Most first and second-year CS courses require all written assignments to be submitted with a standardized cover page to assist us with marking and returning them. To print these cover pages you have two choices:

  1. You can print them from the web by using: https://www.student.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~isg/makeCover
  2. You can run the program ~isg/pub/bin/makeCover after connecting to the undergraduate environment.

    Some examples of usage:

Print cover page for CS 240 Assignment #1:
    ~isg/pub/bin/makeCover -p cs240 1
See list of available cover pages for CS 240:
    ~isg/pub/bin/makeCover -L cs240
Get help and see other options:
    ~isg/pub/bin/makeCover -h
Generate a postscript for CS 134 Assignment #4 and then convert to PDF for easy viewing and printing at home:
    ~isg/pub/bin/makeCover -o cover.ps cs134 4
    ps2pdf cover.ps

(Hint: You may already have the directory ~isg/pub/bin/ in your $PATH - if so, you can save some typing, and simply write (e.g.) makeCover -p cs240 1.)

Please Note: Cover page printing will not be done using lab fees; these cover pages will be printed using your regular printer quota (the makeCover script just runs lpr automatically for you, if you specify -p).

Note further that this means that you must ensure that you always have at least $0.08 in your CAS account to avoid being unable to print a cover page.

Please e-mail your ISA if you discover any problems.
