CS 492 W23 Role-Playing Exercise 4

The Canadian Computing Profession

Team A

A group of university professors, computer scientists, computing professionals, and business leaders who want to require that every information technology company operating in Canada meet a minimum threshhold for hiring computer science and computer engineering graduates from Canadian Universities and Colleges. Such a threshhold may be of the form that job applicants with Canadian educational backgrounds and otherwise equivalent skill sets be given equal job interviewing opportunities in any hiring process.

Team B

A group of business leaders and independent-minded computing professionals who are opposed to any restrictions on worker education background requirements for computing professionals, arguing that the global free market in goods, services, and hiring, is the most effective and efficient mechanism for keeping the cost of goods and services produced by Canadian companies at competitive levels.
