Site under construction; descriptions are tentative and will be finalized September 5, 2023

An overview of the course and its schedule is here.

It describes the purpose of the course, lists the required tasks
for the Workload and presents the Schedule of classes for the term.

A description of the Group Project is here.

A description of the Individual Project is here.

A list of the Papers available for presentation is here.

The time and location of the first class will be: Friday September 8, Timeslot TBA (hoping for 2 hr. AM block) (ONLINE)

** New as of July 14: we have been assigned a Friday AM timeslot starting at 930am with a class size (if filled) that will have us using 2.5 hours.
See Overview of Course for more details. We will be aiming to finish each day by 12noon at latest.

** New as of August 25: given the current enrolment in CS886 and the number of students on the waitlist, I expect to use 2.5 hours.
Clarification of the schedule for a full class of 21 (with an indication of how a tiny overflow to 23 can be managed) is here.
Note as well that the class size will never be allowed to exceed 23. Enrolment numbers on Quest include those who are simply auditing.
The aim will still be to maintain no more than 21 students for credit.

The timetable showing who is presenting what paper will not be revealed until we have sorted first-half talks, after September 15,
but this will be shown here.

In this course, students are not allowed to use ChatGPT when completing their individual projects and their one-page paper summaries.
I will ask that each item a student hands in for grading have the line: I confirm that ChatGPT was not used in the completion of this task for CS886.
See uWaterloo's Policy 71 for more general information about plagiarism and cheating and the possible consequences of committing these offenses.

** New as of October 23: a page that shows the likely timeslots for final project presentations is here.
** New as of November 6: the page describing the Group Project has been updated to spell out more carefully the intended timing and the use of breakout rooms.
